After much need to rent and having rental gear fail on me, I'm tired of taking my chances with my LDS to depend on them for gear...

So after discussing it with my husband, I contacted Scubatoys.com....Joe has been EXTREMELY patient with all my questions and concerns (thanks Joe!!!)....so once I get back from the July 4th weekend, I will be ordering the following:

Bare Arctic Hooded 7/5 womens wetsuit
Zeagle Zena BC
Aeris Atmos Pro 1st/2nd stage
Oceanic Datamax Pro +2/compass
Mares Brigade octo

I'm so excited!!!! And no more renting!!!!! :eyebrow: :eyebrow:

Congrats! The best thing you can do for your diving is have you very own gear you know and trust.

Congrats Jodi, it's the start of the end for you now :D

Getting your own gear is proving to be money well spent for me, it should be for you as well. Now next step is to not get addicted.

I bought the Aeris Atmos Pro 1st/2nd stage

and regret it. I gave to my buddy and he hated it. It's hard to adjust and feels like it pushes air into my mouth. It breathes wet inverted (the Scuba Magazine reviewers had the same complaint). The swivel hose next to the first stage drove me nuts in currents. I would suggest the Zeagle Envoy instead. Trini seems to like the Aeris, both both my buddy and I called the Reg from Hell.

Congratulations on your new gear!

My wife has the same reg and BC and she loves them both. I haven't heard her complain of any water intrusion while inverted but thats not to say it doesn't happen. Congrats on the gear though, best decision you can make and you will be amazed at how much more you'll want to dive and how comfortable you will be.

I just don't understand why you aren't patronizing your LDS for your gear. Are they that bad with service? Are you still planning on diving/taking classes with them?

Congrats... enjoy your new gear... and ignore the "why didn't you shop at your LDS" rants...

It's much better to dive with familiar equipment, you can go out easier, and more often. HAVE FUN!

Now think about a tank so you don't have to stop by the shop and rent that before you head off. It's good to have stored and ready to go.

JodiBB, I must warn you, you have headed down the slippy slope of no return. Buying gear is like eating peanuts, once you start, you cannot stop:11:

Good luck and enjoy

awesome! it's great to dive with one's own gear ... a whole new diving
experience

and be warned, you are going to buy MANY MANY MANY MORE TONS OF STUFF
in the future...

that's a great question, isn't it? but you're asking the wrong person. you should
be asking the LDS: why are divers not buying from you? what can you do to change
that?

i think more LDS's should take a look at *why divers don't buy from them*
