I'm asking for advice about a Canon S110 and strobe YS01 problem

The camera flash should be fully masked. Otherwise you will have sediment bloom. It is becoming apparent to me that the YS dTTL is not particularly effective or consistent. Your YS strobe emits a preflash triggered by the camera preflash for your camera expousre setting then followed by the main flash for the actual exposure based on/mirroring the output of the camera flash. Then you have to use the strobe output knob to adjust to your liking.

To put this to bed.. I finally got tired of the instability of the TTL on the YS01 and purchased myself an INON S2000..

It has been working great on STTL, I'm getting consistent exposures and not once have I had a complete whiteout like I was getting frequently with the YS01.. it's becoming enjoyable once again.
