Just check out the new strobe you posted. The product look interesting. I guess Ikelite may gain market share from these new 'fiberoptic inclusive' - if they do their marketing right.

Man... I just invested in 2 of their hard-wired strobes.....
At the risk of over-simplifying things, it appears to me that the DS165/RC165 is an update targeting the DS162 market and the Ecko is an update targeting the DS51 market.

I have a pair of RC165s on order.

I just picked up my RC165 strobes yesterday and although I have only tried them out at the dive shop, I think that I am really going to like them. They are capable of so much more output than my Inon S2000s but as TTL strobes, they don't need to run at almost full power.

Waiting to read your review. Too bad Ikelite did not release their own review, or get anybody to published a review just yet.

I am looking forward to seeing how I like them too. Unfortunately, other than maybe a pool session or two, I don't have any dive trips planned till this winter when I am heading to Dubai & the Maldives.

Here is a review though of what is essentially the exact system that I bought (Canon R100/with both the 10-18 & the 18-45 lenses/Ikelite housing, zoom gear & dome port (that fits both lenses) and the RC165 Strobes.)

I am hoping to see a review on YouTube sometime soon.

Are you planning to dive when you are in Dubai?

We are there for about 3 days, and "the pool" is available as an option at extra cost (I am traveling with a group from just outside of Toronto), but I am not sure if the novelty of it is worth the extra cost.

Yes, it would be cool to be able to say I dove there, but I think that there might be enough cool things to see on this trip that I might hold off until the last minute to make that call.

You might be able to negotiate a better rate as a group.

Coincidentally one of the people I know that used to work three is currently taking a year off to explore Canada (including diving - he brought his drysuit with him).
