Aah, that makes sense, well sort of. Seeing as I don't dive often enough to really get into the knack of monitoring my dives that way, I think I'll stick to using the computer in computer mode.

I do plan my dives based on tables though, not that I think I'm achieving any more safety really but because I want to get into a habit of doing so. However, I'm only OW though and don't do any deco diving. Combined with the fact that for most dives I usually know how deep and how long it will be it turns out that most of my "planning" revolves around ensuring that I adhere to proper surface intervals - not terriby exciting stuff really.
