I'm not originally from Florida but have lived here 4.5 years. I like it. I live in a small town outside of Orlando. No tourists, traffic not an issue since I take back roads often. I'm 1 hour from either coast and 1.5-2 hours from either cave diving or drift diving in the ocean.

Wendy.

Cool - I am applying to law school, so would be cool if I could go to a warm weather school, study, and dive. I think it was the Cave 1 video Dee posted, got me thinking of Fl again.

sounds good wendy,,, not to crowded,, close to ocean and cave country,,,,, my only thing is that I would love to live here(cape cod) in the summer,,, and spend some of the crappy months up here,, down there, hey, I can dream,, and I agree eric,, that vid. was cool,, I'm thinking of trading my cayman dive next fall for a dir-f class in florida,, we'll see

best of luck

If I had the money...I would buy an island and build a house on it down in the keys! Not to live though...I like being around people too much for that and I love my job...but asa nice weekend/vacation place.

I live in West Palm Beach. Not too big and not too small. It is kind of in the middle of everything you want to do. Great diving going south Key Largo is only 2 1/2 hours, Miami 1 1/2. Of course the diving is wonderful here and probably the longest boat ride out to a wreck or reef is maybe 1/2 hour. Then going north you have Orlando & the springs which I think are about 2+ hours from here. St. Lucie county is extremely popular (about 40 miles north of West Palm). It is one of the fastest growing counties in Florida...you build a 3/2 house with a pool on 1/4 acre of land for about $100-125,000.

ok kjun, you convinced me!

can I move in with you??? :satansee:

Not the greatest local diving....but I'm midway between Cave Country and south Florida diving.

Pluses for Cocoa Beach, beach is really nice, housing is affordable enough for regular people to live beach side, it's not too crowded.

The town is a surfing community, home of the 6 time world champion surfer, Kelly Slater. We produced more world class surfers than any community in world except for a town in Australia

Of course you can! Now that I am diving I may be moving because I will be broke, but there is always room in my card board box for more! LOL
