I never thought about a liveaboard... Cuan Law looks awesome. I will do more research thinking on that but it seems like I might go stir crazy?

I spent 5 days on Cuan law once (for my Dad's 70th birthday celebration), and it was really excellent. It is a huge boat, and you moor somewhere different every day (there are over 70 islands in the BVI, all packed fairly close together). Apart from the diving, they also have a huge range of "toys" to play with - two hobie cats on board, half a dozen kayaks, plus two ribs with all the water skis, inflating tyres and other towing things you can imagine. It was an absolute blast.

Aruba had terrible diving. All the places mentioned above were awesome. Turks and Caicos had great diving and beaches. I just back from Roatan and it was great. Belize had great diving just outside the barrier reef.

We have been heading to Bonaire the last few years and absolutely love it. We prefer to do our own thing and shore dive rather than jump pack onto a boat with a bunch of others. We do 3 or 4 dives every day. We also like the fact that there are alot of really great restaurants on the island.

IMP from a pure diving standpoint Bonaire is 2nd in the Carib next to Little Caymen but the combination of freedom, diving quality and food makes it our overall top choice.

I hate to even mention it because I like that not too many people really go there but since you asked I would have to say SABA. Easy to get to, laid back, great...and I mean great diving, super food and a dive shop like no other in Sea Saba. Very European in feel. The last dive I was on there we were surrounded by a pod of dolphin (probably 50) for the surface interval. Always sharks on the pinnacles. Tons of turtles. Don't get me wrong I love Bonaire but the diversity isn't what Saba is. Saba is hilly so if your not up to doing hills you may not care for it. By the way Saba has pound for pound the best restaurants I've dined at in the Caribbean. Don't go if your idea is diving during the day on a crowded boat and spending the night at a casino. Saba is a diving island with a restaurant problem. The night life consists of spotting satellites flying overhead and spotting geckos. 1 night a week Julianna's has a movie they show outdoors. Go if you want to know what the Caribbean use to be like.

Interval Gods strike and how about St Kitts? Anyone got an opinion? Hope it is great cuz thats where I am going!! End of February. :D

Thanks all for the advice Cuan Law looks like a blast... I think I am gonna do that soon.

Are there any nice places to stay in Saba if I bring the family. Is there any wall diving?

If you are going with the family you might consider renting a villa. A buddy and I rented Iris House on Saba and I thought it would be perfect for a family. Its within a five minute walk from Windwardside and is cheaper than a resort IMHO.

We've been to Roatan and Cozumel and we just got back from two weeks in Bonaire. IMHO, Bonaire beats the other two hands down. Fantastic, healthy reefs.

Staying on Saba you can have about any type of accommodations you want. Julianna's is good. If you want A/C make sure you ask. If you are going with a family or couples get one of the cottages. Very comfortable. I've stayed in the Orchid cottage and found it very adequate. The young couple that own Julianna's are easy to get along with as well. There are a couple of high end places as well but I've only been to them for dining. If you want some more info email Sea Saba and ask Lynn for input. She's an ex-Chicago native who has been on island a number of years. Her and her hubby John run the place. Great dive operation too.

As far as wall diving there is some. They really talk up the pinnacle diving but there is more to it than that. Depending on the currents you may get to do Green Island (very nice since when we dived it we were the first in 18 months. The pinnacles are cool but 1 or 2 of them is usually enough.

If your looking to rent a place you can also ask Lynn in Gersh has his for rent. Gersh is a British DM that was at Sea Saba. He had bought 2 places on the island when I was there. One for him to live in and one to rent out. There is a small medical school on the island so a lot of those places go to students though. If you go tell them Jeff Bloomer said hi.

To add to Bonaire, it's shore dive paradise. I bought Bonaire Shore Diving Made Easy as it highlights the almost 80 shore dives. Imagine that..I love driving at 7 AM with the doggies south seeing the early AM divers parked along the shore..I often wonder what treats they are seeing as their lonely trucks lie in waiting. Our diver's paradise is for sure just that..
