So this thread is designed to see what people like and why in a diving quarry. Underwater speakers to listen to Dark Side of the Moon while night diving, Gear tables with elastic tank holders like on dive boats, floating docks, big platforms, fish, food, a place for non divers to hang out at, etc....

What would you want in a quarry? and if a strange response.... why?

THis could be fun, does anyone have anything they could donate to be submerged??

I have nothing planned, but you never know:14:

Just trying to see what we have out there for resources in the dive world..I know there has been alot of talk about quarries, so what would you want in one??

A large cargo plane to swim through!

BTW, any quarry that has speakers underwater blasting Pink Floyd must be considered BADA$$ and will always get my business.

Hot showers and changing rooms for after the dive.

+++to that RH!

Lots of things to practice overhead in, like the cargo plane mentioned above, lots of wild life, and if feasible, move things around! Think of it as a perpetually changing dive site, never the same twice!

- depth, something in the 200-300 foot range
- free entry for dive pros
- open 24/7/365
- sunken aircraft carrier (a stretch, I know)
- reasonable entry fees and air fills
- grassy area to gear up, no gravel to walk on
- lots of parking
- shore entries an docks for deep water entries
- no fishing

This would be my wish list.

I would love cabins with private docks for weekend getaways!

It would also be cool to have permanant buoyancy courses, compass navigation points and a kick cycle line.

On the platforms there should be pumpkin bungees for the annual October tradition :D

So how would you deal with mattresses? Not have any? Rent them separate? Get rid of them after "X" amount have slept in them? Bring your own bedding? Make a "P-Sheet" Mandatory....that way you know your sleeping on a clean surface...Or what? Would you furnish it? or try to keep the price low and just have a bare room?

I know lots of questions....Just trying to take good ideas a step further

Gotta have food nearby, if not on the property. Camping areas are great, along with stuff to do topside for non-divers. Themed events are fun, u/w pumpkin carving and the like. Lots of fish, and enforced no fishing so they stay there...

I think a changeable maze would be cool u/w, I don't know how you would go about building it though, and it would have to be open on top so you could get out...

Easiest way is to have a bed frame that fits air mattress...

- - free entry for dive pros

This would be my wish list.

How do you justify free entry for Dive Pros? Only when teaching? All the time? If all the time...why? Why dive for free for recreation when others have to pay? If while teaching, of course free entry should be granted
