I do lots of cold water diving 33F to 40 F...and lots of Ice diving....any recommendation about sealed regulators...?

Just about any high quality sealed reg will be good. I prefer Zeagle, others prefer Apeks etc. My Zeagle works brilliantly in the cold.

Another vote for Apeks. I've never had a problem with them under ice or in cold water. I have had my Scubapro MK20/25s deco regs in 33F water and they didn't free flow. My Scubapro MK18 did freeflow one time.

My vote would be a Scubapro MK17 with a G250 or an S600 second stage. The second stages are the same internally, but the 250 has a larger case. Also, diaphragms tend to perform better than pistons in cold water.

Quote from DA Aquamaster on another thread:

Cold water testing has been done with it at high flow rates at 160' depth and it was the only reg in the test group that did not freeze flow during the 200 minute test.

I would recommend the Scubapro MK17 with the G250 or S600 also. The S555 is a
nice second stage but doesn't have the adjustable air flow.

:D

My preference is the MK 17 as it serves me well below recreational depths and in water temps in the mid thirties. It is probably the newest first stage designed specifically for the demands of cold water diving.

The Aqualung Legend LX Supreme also performs very well in cold water and Apeks regs also have a good reputation and seem to have a lot of fans - although many who feel they are the "best" have only used Apeks regs so I often wonder about the validity of the comparison.

The Scubapro Mk 25 has a lot of cold water users, but in my experience its Thermal Insulating System leaves very little margin in water colder than about 40-45 degrees and they have been known to freeze flow, so it is pretty far down on my list for extreme cold water.

make sure you have a sealed oct.. that way if you have a reg faliure at least your oct will work..
