I use limewire, and have had great success. I tried bearshare but I never could get the stupid thing to work properly.

Depends on the kind of music you're looking for, but I use Soulseek. It has it's disadvantages for sure, but for a spyware-free, easy interface P2P network it's well worth checking out.
