dirdiversrule:DIR diving isn't for everyone. I mean, not everyone should be exploring Everest either. Like my dad said, the world needs ditch diggers. The world also needs non-DIR divers.
Ouch.

well, my BCD has an AIR2 so I had two backup regs but I intend to take the AIR2 off and stick with the backup on the necklace. Yes, I donate the short hosed primary. At least I did twice in practice drills a couple weeks back. It didnt seem to present a problem. We surfaced facing each other, gripping each other's forearm.Otter:So do you donate your shorter working primary? I realize that this is little different than those who have integrated safe seconds (e.g. Atomic SS1, ScubaPro Air2), but one of the things I disliked about that approach was there was little head movement possible for the receiving diver?

Rainer:Another option if you don't want a long hose but would like to keep the bungeed backup and donate the primary would be to go to a 40" hose for the primary (as was done for OW DIR diving in the past). I had this setup before going to a 7' hose, and while I prefer the long hose, the 40" offers many of the same benefits (and the most important for OW diving). You'd need a reliable swivel to make this work best (either the Atomic or Kirby Morgan, neither of which has a reported failure AFAIK, unlike those held together by a single screw).
David Watson:This post should definitely be moved from this forum. Adding a swivel to your rig is NOT something that you should be posting in the DIR forum. The concept is not very difficult, the gear is just an excuse for people to have something to argue about.
As for the OP, maybe you should have given people the full story before sand bagging our philosophy. Obviously you never gave it a chance.

Divin'Hoosier:I'm with Catherine ... what questions and discussions CAN be posted here?
Rainer:You do realize this WAS the DIR config for OW recently, correct? In any case, consider it a PM to the OP given his posts in this forum.
