Well, it's been a year since my last 25 dives aboard the Aqua Cat in the Bahamas. Am heading to the Philippines in 2 weeks with my Oly 620, two Sea & Sea YS-110 strobes and a Zulkor 14 - 54 lens. I am looking for a refresher on basic settings and while I am at it I have been told that I would be better served by a macro lens, which unfortunately I cannot afford. What would you recommend for macro settings as well?

I am taking my gear into a pool next week and any advice that anyone could impart would be ever so appreciated.

Thank you

PS Yes I am an air head and have misplaced my notes with settings from the last dive trip, which was my first using this new equipment.

Not sure about Oly 620, but this looked like a good list to me from Quero regarding the Oly XZ-1. The XZ-1 is basically a fixed SLR lens in a high end point and shoot, so many of this advice should hold.

There are a couple of traps for the unwary. Ensure that auto pop up of the internal flash is OFF. If you want to do TTL with your SnS 110's then auto flash MUST be ON. I use a E-520 so a couple of things may be different.

This is a list that Phil Rudin ( A guy who's posts you should follow) sent me when I lost mine early this year.

Gradation-Auto
I shoot Raw
I use Auto WB
I shoot ISO-100 macro, 200 W/A most of the time
Noise Red&Fill-OFF
RE mode OFF
S-AF anti-shock OFF
AF/MF Live boost-OFF
RC -OFF
L/V boost-OFF never use L/V
X-sync 1/180 macro (or max)
Lens auto retract_OFF if you use a gear it may mess up the lens.
I zero out Sat,sharp, contrast and handle in PP
