16/40 does not seem like a very appropriate mix for that profile. That is probably what caused concern about this question.

Maybe OP would like to add/ modify things in original post to clarify?

A different question could be: "If I wanted to do that dive, what would be the best gas (set), and what would RT be?". Or 'I have this bottle of gas, can I do this dive and what would it look like?'

But OP seems to be instructor and that to me is enough to assume he know what he is doing or should not be doing......

I dunno, I just jumped in....

PerroneFord:
My sig? Don't believe everything you read on the internet. It'll be quite some time before I need mix on deco! I've just started needing deco gas at ALL! And only on the occasional dive.

These longer cyberdives are getting demanding.
My comment was to jbd, NAUI instructor and so on with a question like that.
could figure out from your post alone, you have a clue. Well, at least one(LOL):rofl3:

I think the OP asked a simple question. S/he does not have to clarify or restate with a different question or update his or her profile. As I read it, the OP asked what your deco software shows (actual diving was not even alluded to). If you want to take the time to run the profile and do the OP the requested favor (with all the qualifications and caveats you want to include), then do it. If not, don't.

I didn't think there was particularly anything wrong with being concerned for the welfare of a fellow diver. While I will certianly try to help anyone I can, I don't want to provide information over the internet that stands the potential to possibly get someone hurt or worse.

Doing shallow deco on a 16% mix raises some flags...

Questions about weird mixes at atypical depths for random times by instructors tend to elicit raised eyebrows.

I get RT of 149mins on 16/40 in v-planner+2 @130ft for 40mins (incl. descent)
GF of 30/85 gives RT 162mins (JDeco)...

We answer all kinds of questions on SB on all kinds of things...why should deco be any different?

PerroneFord:
jbd,

Now, that said, I don't know HOW jtivat got his runtime of 161 minutes. on V-planner, I got 238 minutes or whatever using conservatism +2 and no deco gas because you didn't indicate any. A diver who might actually do a dive such as this would almost certainly NOT do it on 16/40 as it is an absolute waste. So your question set off red flags in my head. Others probably felt the same. Doing the same dive on air would get you out of the water much faser. Doing it on common normoxic would get out out of the water faster and cheaper. Doing it with normoxic and 50% would cut the time down tremendously, probably cut the cost of gas down by 2/3, and would almost certainly be the preferred method by most people I know.

Best of luck learning about deco and mixed gas diving with v-planner.

Well you either have a bad version of V-Planner or need to learn to use it because the following is what it gives you using a +2 conservatism

You do realize the 180 is the runtime not the 180 + 58 which would = 238.

I got nearly a 4 hour run time, Grazie got 149 minutes though he shorted the bottom time 10 minutes (that alone would account for a 3 hr run time), Colliam got 580 minutes, Packhorse got a minimum of 3 hours.

I am curious because the profile you posted says 180m runtime, yet your first post indicated 161. What changed?
