That first one looks like Remington from around the "War of Northern Aggression" as it is called around here. My dad had one that looked kinda like your picture. It had no family stories behind it - not sure where he got it from. It was sold a few years ago for around $700. It had some non-authentic repairs, or it may have fetched more.

The first one is a Colt 1851 Navy and the second is a clone of the 1873 Cot Single Action Army.

We missed it yesterday ........

Happy birthday to John Moses Browning (January 23, 1855) :balloons::bday::partytime:

I've always been fascinated with big bore, long range shooting. Never had the time and/or money to get into it, but I can still appreciate it.

Other than the .50 BMG the .338 LAUPA seems to get a lot of good reviews. And, as a price performer, the Savage M111 gets some good press as well, at around $1,400. Optics is a whole other story.

Anyway, here's a video that I think is pretty cool. I'd love to have a crack at this.

I love long range. Big bore, on the other hand, I'm not super interested in because I want to shoot rifles I can carry around and reloading 50 is another huge investment. Classes like HART - where you hump all your gear all day up and down the side of a mountain - would be rough with a 50.

I've thought about the 338 and might go that far at some point, but I've hit steel poppers at 1200 yards with my 260 and it is a joy to shoot.

I want to build a one-mile gun and I might be able to do that with a 300 WSM. If not then a 7mm something shooting the Berger 185s. Or another 6.5. Or, or, or...

For glass I love the Vortex Razor HD. I'll buy the gen 2 for my next long range rifle.

If you wanna shoot reactive targets you should check out Boomershoot.

It's hard enough to find a 200 yard range around here. I doubt I'll ever get the chance to get my hands on a long range shot like that. :(

Well, that's just silly. The president says gun laws stop crime. What are you gonna believe that stand up guy or a bunch of studies?

Such a stand up guy that when the CDC did a study he ordered to 'prove' gun control saves lives he buried it.

I like Stossel.

His speach patterns drive me crazy but I like what he has to say.

You see his two pieces about Health Insurance and Business (Showing how Communist China is really more business friendly than U.S?)
