I inspected this cylinder myself.

Are you sure your provider was authorized to requalification HP tanks? If not, you may not have gotten the requalification you think you got. But, if all that matters is the stamp....

I'm not sure why you are asking that. The shop was set up to do hydro testing and everything was how I expected it to be. These were 2250 psi tanks.

Many (most) shops are only authorized to do low pressure requals, like "fire extinguishers". If they gave you a requalification that they were not authorized to perform, it is their problem. Unless something happens to make it somebody else's problem too. I would be suspicious of the no charge.

Oops, locator link not working. I will keep looking.

I never had them comp me a thing. I just did the renewal by thumb drive, and I paid full freight. I have had to pay full with each renewal.

The comp was their idea not mine.

It surprised me also. they thanked me for being part of a system that ensured safety ect. bla bla bla and they noted my account for a free update by thumb drive.

Who knows perhaps it had something to do with the stuff I bought from them. every time I turned around I could not find my stickers so I ordered more. One can only guess.

Either way you and I like many others know just what is called for on a VIP. and its well worth the 15$ for how much is done. And then the boot removals.

I keep getting a "this site can't be reached" even when I get there from a different starting point. I get to the list of states but CA doesn't seem to be working.

How do you define "low pressure?" I have a CO2 extinguisher that is rated for 1800 psi and I'm sure they can test those. I don't know how much pressure paintball tanks go to but I was thinking it was over 3500 psi. They test those too. I didn't get the impression that they were in any way shady. The hydro guy said he pressured my tanks to 3750, measured how much expansion there was, and how much contraction there was when depressurized, and everything was within the acceptable limits. Aside from passing the visual, what more is there? Knowing that it passed those tests I feel confident to fill my tanks to 2475 psi. I imagine that dive shops in the area probably send them to the same place I went to as I went to since I could only find one other place that does hydro testing within about 25-30 miles.

I'll try again later to get the link to work--it's Sunday evening and maybe it's down for maintenance.

I didn't read the scam link yet--I'll do that now.

I can't get to the TX sites either.??.

I don't know where the LP/HP break is but my tanks are all in the HP category (3000+).

Sometimes the steel 72s (2250 psi) are referred to as "LP." If you were referring to a typical ABC fire extinguisher my guess would be that they are only a couple of hundred psi but it could be much higher. The fire extinguisher guy I used to use re-pressurized them from tanks. In my mind "HP" generally refers to somewhere over 3300 which would be a typical aluminum 80 filled +10%.

I didn't finish reading about the scams yet but here's the web site for the place I went:

San Bernardino & Riverside Counties Fire Equipment | Fire Extinguisher CO2 Sprinkler Systems Hydrotesting Restaurant Fire Systems | Temecula Palm Springs Desert Inland Empire

They probably do the testing for the SCBA tanks for the fire departments for two major counties. I just don't see anything fishy. Is the fact that they didn't charge me what made you suspicious?
