I gave up after a while reading all the stuff here, but that "pretentious asshat" stuff was pure killer.

That's great, but clearly not everyone is happy to receive unsolicited PMs. Look, the point is, this doesn't scale. What if EVERY operator on SB sent everyone offers via PM? I know I'd be pissed having to wade through all that crap.
In any case, there already exists a mechanism for announcing your trips. You can find it in the various Marketplaces here on SB.

Just maybe they had a target audience.......
I'm sure Mike_S realizes he got the PM because he's been posting a lot in the Vandenberg sinking thread and he has a nondescript location on his profile.

Besides, this topic affects you how??
You're a long way from the Los Angeles section of the board aren't you.

For crying out loud people, if you don't want to dive for less than half price, delete Pro Dive's PM if you received it and move along. :shakehead:

(If I sat down and thought about all the "free" viagra offers I get on a weekly basis, I'd start to get really parinoid - just hit delete - or the stock tips; wow)

They won't stop sending me deals on Pedi Paws pet nail groomers. I have never owned a dog or cat in my life.:shakehead:

Some of you need one of these, you know who you are....

Let's See-

1. I sign up for a scuba message board.

2. I post alot on said scuba message board.

3. I pump up local dive ops who do good work and offer good deals to locals on said message board.

4. With said scuba message board I get for free a personal mail box that anyone can access as long as they too are a member of said scuba message board.

5. A neighborhood dive op sends me a PM offering me a great deal on a trip. They probably have a sneaky motive like hoping I might pump them up on the board.

SPAM would be our email address sold to some company so they could pelt us with useless scams and the like. I would call this the bonus of being an active Scubaboard poster-a little scratch your back, you scratch mine.

You're wasting your time on it now. Your point is valid and correct. SPAM is SPAM whether others defend it or not

To the untrained eye perhaps, but it's really so much more....
