Back on island after a long travel day. Flew Delta MSP-ATL-BON. Two mechanical issues. On flight one it as an overhead bin that wouldn’t stay closed. Situation was resolved with four strips of tape. Small delay after getting all of the paperwork caught up. It is hard to believe with all of the technology available today that these guys carry around massiv maintenance logs that weigh a ton.

Dive two we were taxiing to the runway when the pilots started troubleshooting a warning light. Assured that it was a minor issue we returned to a gate for resolution. 5 minutes later the captain said the plane was no bueno and they would have to switch it out. Luckily Atlanta is the one airport that has spare 737-900s available. 3 hours late we took off and landed 3 and a half hours later. Really no big deal fo us but the folks headed home today are screwed for their connections. Good luck to them!

Staying at Divi on the timeshare side. It ain’t Bamboo Bali! The waterfront is nice and the first thing we did as put on swimming suits and jump in the ocean. The unit we have needs some love and has for some time. Divi still charges for Nitrox. Is it 1998?

I don't know about all airlines, but Delta only flies on Saturday and Sunday (for the most part). That means they need to find ticket agents and luggage handlers for the weekends. These are folks that probably have jobs during the week and need extra incentive to work for about five hours each day over the weekend. Compare that to other islands that have more than one flight a day and have daily flights. Plus, competition helps. A recent addition of flights from ATL to LIM by JetBlue has reduced prices from Delta by about $200/flight.

The normal ticket and ground crews work ALL the flights.. Delta and United use the same people ... In Bonaire, They all work all the same aircraft that come in..

Jim.

Never again will i fly Delta! Yesterday we were 10 minuets late departing St. Louis due to some ice. When we landed in Atlanta the sky bridge issues took a good 20 minuets to allow us to disembark aircraft. We hustled to get to another terminal. I was told by a gate agent that connecting flight was notified. We arrive at gate which just closed even though it was 10 minuets from departure. Nobody would let us on. No begging or pleading would make them budge, even though the aircraft sat there for an additional 15 minutes. No other flights to Bonaire until next week. Our urgency was greeted by utter apathy. At present time we are in Aruba sans checked bags,at the mercy if Insel Airlines getting us to Bonaire.

Oh no! I am so sorry to read this. It seems almost daily I see headlines about the uncaring and unconscionable behavior of airline representatives. We have had several bad experiences but nothing close to yours. I sincerely hope that you get to Bonaire soon and that the rest of your trip is amazing.

Just booked tickets to Bon on Delta 24 - 22 September....$795......actually feeling lucky given the prices I've been seeing lately...
