Dove the Superior Producer this morning, almost no current made for a very nice dive. I was thinking about not taking the camera, but glad I did. Felt a tug on my fins and turned to see this rare creature and actually got a photo....:D

HAPPY EASTER, ALL!

The red fringes indicate that it is a Regal Slipper Lobster (Arctides guineensis). The Spanish (Scyllarides aequinoctialis) is a mottled brown color. If you cut them in half longwise and grill them with butter I doubt you could differentiate the taste.

No Tom, Not the lobster...But that does sound very tasty. He is talking about the extremely rare, English accented South Korean Irishman. Usually seen with a blue Bubba Keg in his hand, filled with 3.5 Polar Beers....Man, I miss Curacao.

Tony
A rare find indeed! I hear an even rarer find is seeing his mate on a night dive!!!
belle31 & I will be there again in August looking to find just that. :14:
HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE:D

I think it's a Spanish / Shovelnose slipper lobster - the blotchy carapace is what I'm looking at. Tony, did you get a good look where the tail section joins the rest of the body? If that section was mustard-yellow with black spots, It's a Spanish (or Shovelnose) slipper lobster.

Hope the poor critter isn't now posessed by the Church Lady after being named 'Superior". Here's a cousin we got a pic of on a dusk dive on Bonaire last December, for comparison.

We saw another one at Snake Bay on one of our dusk dives there while staying at Waterside Apartments. I'll get the pics uploaded once the artiste has finished her wizardry.

Looks like a Dive Bus trip?

Slipper Lobster ! we find those on occasion, although not that often, they are alot harder to find for some reason, maybe bc they have no danglies hangout of the holes they are hiding in. Yea you can't differentiate between them and a spiny lobster taste wise.

Hello all you lovely people )

As you know, we NEVER usually put stuff on here but how could we resist...

We have some special photos for some of our VERY favourite scubaboarders to enjoy...
but we couldn't figure out how to upload them. Look, we never said we were smart, ok?

Tell us the easy, idiots way and we'll go right ahead. Otherwise, you're gonna be wondering and wondering and wondering and wondering and... well, you get the picture... or not ))

Laters!

Positive test result Tony - the seahorse picture link works for me.

Hey folks,

Thanks for all the tips on how to post photos. Let's hope these work....

First up: if you thought the English accented South Korean Irishman was a rare sighting, even more rare, as Tom pointed out, is a sighting of his mate on a night dive. Nonetheless, photographic proof can be found right here:

Secondly: please be advised that after siginificant and extensive testing, it has now been confirmed that you can actually fit 4 Polars + 4 chicks into a Bubba Keg:

(This was the delivery required for the extensive testing:

Over and out ;o)
