I am no "nature nazi" but was there a point to this hunt ...

I just think hunting in general is cruel!

The moose that's being eaten by a pack of wolves while it's still alive would probably agree with you. On the other hand the wolves probably think it's OK.

to be perfectly honest, i don't hunt anymore

but i am aware of where the meat in the supermarkets and restaurants comes
from, and how it gets there, and it's no less cruel

LOL, Reminds me of when my daughter was young, 3 or so, we sat down to a ham dinner, and I said " Who wants some pig leg?". She looked at me shocked and said "PIG LEG???". Took a little fancy explaining

Since I started diving I haven't wanted to spend my vacation time hunting on land. But there is nothing wrong with it . It has been done for time eternal to provide for survival. People that waste the product should be hunted down themselves, this also applies to underH2O hunters in my opinion. I have no problem with someone taking any legal critter provided they will utilize the creature to the best extent.

H2Andy:
i guess i'm having trouble understanding why a rug is different from the meat.

obviously, both have value to the hunter. there's no need to kill the bear
for food these days in our society ... so.... isn't that a sort of waste too,
using your logic?

i don't think it is. i think that if the hunter values the pelt, that's no more
a waste than killing the animal for food when you can go to the supermarket
and get meat from animals that were going to be slaughtered anyway.

this is all assuming that it is legal to take the particular animal.

If the bears are numerous enough they need to be culled, like deer, then I'd say blast away but are they that plentiful?

good point, actually... but if it is legal to kill the bear, then... i would assume
that means there's enough of them?

btw, this thing is a hybrid between a polar bear (bad *** mother-ffffff) and
a grizzly bear (crazy bad *** mother-ffffff).

also, it can't reproduce, so it's probalby pissed off all the time

They just had a problem with a bear in Trenton NJ about a week ago.
