I have a few tanks (steel and aluminum) that need hydro

The steel tanks are low pressure (2400) and can be retested for the 10% plus but most places don't it. I have the DOT list of Authorize Retesters in FL (above), but hoping someone can save me from blindly calling all the High pressure testers.

IF you've got a LP cylinder that has been tested with the "plus" you can read the tester's stamp.

Thanks in advance.

I dont know about Orlando, but I use Haines City fire extinguishers on Lucerne Park Road in Winter Haven. They also do the VE testing standard regardless of the type of tank.

Spruce Creek Scuba gets them done with the + on them. They are fast.
Ther are in Port Orange the daytona area.

Neck Cracks
Visual eddy current testing is designed for one type of AL tank (6351 alloy) and shouldn't be used on 6061 alloy AL tanks or steel tanks AFAIK.

I had my 6351 done there not long ago and they forgot to stamp the cylinders. When I went back and was talking to Robert, who does the actual testing of all cylinders he said they do it standard on any cylinder they test.I am not sure if he was referring to steels. I ll ask the next time I am in the neighbor hood.He also does a vis on it before it leaves his shop. The only thing he does not have is a sticker for the vis. I still have to go elsewhere for one. They do mainly fire extinguishers, and cylinders associated with fire protection systems, but they do test scuba cylinders on occasion. They also get updates from CGA, DOT as well as all of the alphabet soup organizations that have a say in compressed gas cylinders in general.

United Fire Protection (United Fire Protection - Fire Protection Equipment - Orlando, FL) does do hydro's on scuba tanks. When it's summer time and the hydro machine is busy, he can turn a tank around in a day. When it's slow like now, it may take 3 days. They are located about a mile from John Young & Orange Blossom Trail. Cost on the LP108 I took there was $28 w/o vip nor fill. Fun2Dive in Sanford has a better deal with VIP & Fill included, but United was closer for me. I got a plus re-rating on each of my steel tanks.

Thanks for all the good leads.

Neither Fun2Dive nor C&N will do the "plus" hydro test.

I think the best deal locally for non plus or AL is either Fun2Dive or Scubadiversions ($26 for Hydro/Vis/fill). I usually take my AL to Scubadiversions because it is close and cheap.

It's funny how some shops barely fill tanks and other will nearly double the working pressure...
for a few bucks I'll go for the "plus"
