I will tell you straight up, because that's the kind of person I am, that I don't believe this story. I am not saying he's a liar because it's entirely possible there was some misunderstanding along the way, either between him and the shop or him and you, etc etc. There's three sides to every story I think: one side, the other side, and somewhere in the middle is the real story (truth).

Go re-read my reply about all the painted tanks that have been sent to hydro! I can go in my garage and take a photo of some that have been sent off, by that shop in fact!

How about a common sense approach...go look at how many places online and locally sell painted tanks. Do you honestly think ANY freaking tanks that come painted would be sold if they couldn't be sent to hydro? Come on man, think about that! It's completely ridiculous! You would easily find hundreds, if not thousands, of complaints about having to strip tanks for hydro if this were true. You would never see a painted tank with more than one hydro stamp either. Neither of those are the case and you know it.

Off course it's ridiculous. In this story, I'm not the one who is alleged to have stated that. It almost seems to me that you asked me such an absurd question to try to make it look like I'm the one that doesn't understand.

I asked my friend several times in several ways and he was very clear in what he told me. Hence why I grabbed the tank and took it to the hydro facility myself. It was patently absurd for someone to say you couldn't hydro it for that reason. However, I'd also been out of diving for a few years and I don't consider myself to be 100% infallible hence why I asked for the sniff test.

Shoot me your # via PM if you want and I'll tell you the story exactly the way it was told to me. Either way this post was started a month ago and it seems like only once the name of the dive shop was known did people jump to the defense. I have the feeling that if I had said "Dive World" everyone would be saying "yup... that dive world".

It's not like it was hard to know which shop you were talking about. You basically have 4 shops in the Austin area (Scubaland, Tom's Dive & Swim, Dive World, Oakhill Scuba). You basically told everyone in the Austin area who were talking about, before I even mentioned the name, but what you said about them is just plain ridiculous. I will defend them otherwise, because I believe factual information from a face to face conversation, over an internet forum user.

I used to be on the boat, "Dive shops are only after your pocket book,"or whatever you want to call it. Well I got off that boat, because I met a lot of very good folks through the dive shops, and their events. These people don't care how knowledgeable you are, they just care about diving and having a good time doing it.

My source is somebody I see face to face on a daily basis. If it'll help, lets go diving one day and you'll see that I'm a real person to.

Then we'll see you on the Giant Stride.
