Our Dive Club (Humboldt Skindivers) meets the second Tuesday of each month at Chan's Restaurant at 4th & G Streets in Arcata at 7:00 pm. All are welcome. At HSU contact Richard Alvarez.

FYI, I dove Humboldt Bay today and had between 1 to 0 ft. of vis. So Cal seems pretty nice right now.

I live in Humboldt Great place to live crappy place to dive!! Do you realize what your friend is up against?? First off our water temp is border line cold enough for a dry suit(my next specialty class) our viz basically is nil when I got certified in Fort Bragg my instructor laughed at me when I asked for places to dive closer to my home (the lost coast) he informed me that about 4 days a year the tide and viz come together enough to tolerate the surge. Our bay in Eureka is disgusting in a word sludge from the lovely pulp mills floats around and the bay hasnt been dredged in many years recent attempts resulted in two "minor" oil leaks into our bay. You can get cert in Eureka but i just couldnt bring my self to swim in that crap
The light at the end of the kelp is a 2 1/2 hour drive to Fort Bragg Charlie Lorenz at Sub Surface Progression can help direct you to or guide you to some great beach entries Hes an outstanding guy with great knowlede of the rigors of diving our coast. And if your thinking "isnt that where that skin diver died few weeks ago" your right but no scuba diver has ever been bit in this area its the ab divers.
In the mean time come up and visit we blow bubbles in other ways!!!
