I would like to put my AI transmitter on a hose over my right shoulder, clipped onto a right shoulder strap d-ring. What length hose do you think I would need? I don't own a tank, so that I could just measure it myself.

Why do you want it clipped to your shoulder strap? Most people who do this use a 6" hose, but I just don't see the point myself.

I use a 15cm hose and use a tie wrap to secure the hose to the BC LP inflator hose if on the left or to the primary second stage LP hose if connected on the right. I never connect it to the BC shoulder strap.

That would depend a bit on the path the hose takes, like if you have a 5th port and a swivel or you have the first stage sitting in a barrel position the hose length would be shorter, and if the first stage is positioned horizontally and the high pressure port is facing up or down, its going to be a longer hose for what you're asking.

I have a question - are you running into reliability issues that you want/need the transmitter closer? Personally, I wouldn't want anything else clipped off to my right D-ring, thats a pretty busy place between clipping off lights and reg, and anything else there would definitely get in my way.

I've used Garmin transmitters and MH8A transmitters directly on the regs and with 6" HP hoses and both have been reliable without bringing them further forward. Might I suggest starting with an inexpensive 6" rubber hose that helps the transmitter just clear your neck, maybe a bit of velcro holding it to another hose to keep it from getting floppy if that's a concern?

With a PH quick release on the end.

Which one do you use?

There are many threads on this topic. I personally use 6” hoses to make sure that nobody handing my tanks grabs them from a transmitter connected directly to the first stage. If nobody was ever touching my tanks, I would connect directly to the first stage to reduce the number of failure points (hose itself, a few o-rings). I never had transmission issues so don’t see the need to have it hanging on the shoulder.
