Are there other methods commonly used anymore? I've been drinking the GUE kool-aid for a while, but I didn't see any other method used in N Florida.

I've seen the no label method used disturbingly often.

Edit: I use 3" reflective mod labels on the sides, 2" reflective mod labels on the bottom, and write my name, the tank size, and my phone number on the tank neck with a paint pen. The gas analysis tape has the mix, the date, where I got the fill, and my initials on it.and goes on the crown. If the tank is dove I take the analysis tape off and put it across the valve face to signal me that it needs a fill/check before diving again.

I have high respect for my instructor, but I'm as well a open minded person and like to hear others perspectives, specially if I see different approaches.

More one trend is suggested, more I lean towards it and know I go in the right direction, if you have Divers like Doppler, AJ, T-Bone, DevonDiver, etc, that agree on the same trend, then you know that is the path too follow.

My instructor uses MOD and Duk Tape with big letters + the small sticker with all the info, the tanks have properly our names on it by the means of proper stickers, but that is about it. ( and tags if you can find good ones )

I do like to have some decent stickers on my Tank and not use the Duk Tape.

Now I'm in Curacao for 30 days vacation, and I don't like to bother my INST with every single question I have, but I'm always looking what others do, and questions arise so I ask.

What I got from their interventions is the 3" numbers, and the Horizontal orientation, from my own the reflective stickers ( and see that others use as well ), and I will put 1.5" size numbers for the tank neck, and try to find someone to have SS plates tags stamped for me with the two MOD's 21 and 9.

Thanks guys.

Any suggestions on putting reflective signs our name on the bottom side of your fins ?, I don't think the same stickers for the tanks will stay on the fins.

Why 9m? Is that a safety factor for 80% which is a 10m MOD? If so I would use 10 just to avoid confusion with a 6 for a buddy who may be using 100%.

White paint pen

Yes it is, as well 21m for 50%

I'm looking for something that reflects light, I believe that white in not enough, correct me if I'm wrong.

3M makes reflective tape, but I don't know if it will hold on to the rubber from my fins, any one had tried some kind of glue that will not be affected by normal and salt water ?

Don't know what you are looking for your fins, IOW, what you are looking to communicate on them, but I know several people who have their initials on their fins for underwater identification purposes (both OW and cave) and white paint pen -thick- works well. At least on black jets, anyway <g>.

I want to communicate my location, I sometimes get in very low visibility waters, North Sea of Nederland can be very bad and I want to see if I can do it more often if the opportunity knocks on the door again, some lakes 4m visibility is very normal, and loosing another pare of divers becomes very often, I believe reflective tape can make a small difference over white marker.

3M SOLAS tape will. I've had it on my jetfins for many months.

I have seen two ways Tec divers identify their Deco tanks with big letters, they either use big letters with the O2% and MOD in small letters or with big MOD letters and small O2% letters identification.

It seems that there is no standard on this.

Which way do you prefer to ID your Deco Tanks and do you have a particular criteria over your choice ?

I've never seen people permanently mark their tanks with a % of O2. I've only seen permanent MOD stickers--on the neck for you, on the sides/bottom for your buddy/team to verify should you be fortunate enough to have a team to dive with. I would encourage you to encourage those you've seen use %O2 in big letters to switch to MOD (metric or imperial) in big letters and leave the %O2 for the duct tape used to mark a tank after analyzing.
