Hey gang, I have some scratches on the plastic display of my Oceanic pro plus dive computer. It's not REALLY bad, I can still read the display etc, but the OCD in me is going crazy.... Anyone have a proven method for getting the scratch marks out?

Plastic may be easily buffed and just as easily destroyed.

Quit breaking the pills in half?

On your next new one, put a layer of Scotch Brand Package tape on the face, change it every so often.

Are we talking about the actual computer face or the scratch shield? Is is noticeable underwater / when wet?

A headlight restoration kit or similar polish should work if it's a polycarbonate face but as Doc sort of said, it's hard to be sure not knowing.

If it's the shield, just replace it.

Use only a B&G spg (brass case and glass lens). On your computer, purchase the usually optional lens protector.

If it is a plastic lens, something like Plexus may remove most of the scratch.

If it is plastic, go to your local auto parts store and purchase a plastic cleaner/scratch remover. Try this before buffing. Buffing can remove scratches, but with my lack of experience, I have had marginal results trying to buff plastic. The plastic cleaner/scratch remover has a very fine abrasive and I have had good results removing scratches from my computer screen protector. Good luck.

I use Solvol Autosol, a great metal polish. It works wonders on just about anything that needs polishing/shining/cleaning.
I just bought a fresh tube Saturday exactly for the purpose of polishing my Cobra 3 shield.
Also works great on aluminum wheels, will give a mirror shine!

I have scratches on the plastic shield on my computer but they are invisible under water. The plastic is chosen to have an index of refraction close to that of water, so that the shield becomes largely invisible under water (even with scratches).

Used to use that for polishing chrome bits on my motorbikes back in the 70s, good to know they still make it.
