I'm going to Roatan for the first time and want to try taking some digital pictures and videos with a Samsung SL620. I've got a Nikon SLR but want to get a feel for what I'm doing with the SL620 before going to the expense, etc. of investing in a Nikon housing, etc. I bought an Aqua Case (AC-6212) for the Samsung. The manufacturer claims that it's 100% waterproof to 30 meters. Does anyone have any experience that supports or contradicts that claim? Thanks for any input...

After a quick look at the specs for this case I would not recommend it for diving. It's even a step below the factory molded housings (which are considered disposable). Use at your own risk.

It looks like something more suited to snorkeling or surface watersports. The problem with any of the soft cases for diving is, even if it keeps your camera dry, you may find it difficult to operate the camera once pressure is pushing the case against the camera.

(Don't know about this thing, but depth ratings tend to be for static pressure, not dynamic. I generally divide depth ratings by at least 3 to account for this. )

Thanks, Damselfish and jcclink for the input. That's pretty much what I figured. I'm afraid it probably goes back to the old adage, "You get what you pay for." Maybe I'll try it out snorkeling and see how things go...
