Hi y'all,

How much stronger do you need to be to handle twin aluminium Catalina 100s as opposed to twin aluminium Luxfer 80s? Especially when you do shore entries and exits in NorCal?

I am very comfortable with twin Luxfer 80s on my back, and a Luxfer 40 clipped off my front right.

My reason for choosing the Catalina 100s is that they are still -0.4 lbs when empty, as opposed to +3.4lbs for the Luxfer 80. The extra gas will help too.

I'm 6' 2", 160lbs, reasonably fit and active, if that means anything.

Thanks.

That's quite a load to be taking through the surf.

100s are not normally doubled due to the weight in air.

Steel would be lighter. Have you looked at steel tanks?

The better question is why would you WANT to dive Aluminum 100's doubles? I would go with PST E7-100's instead...or stick with the 80's. AL 100's are not nice as doubles.
