Someone is selling them, any help is appreciated......

Looks like Luxfer Aluminium 80s, manufactured April and June of 1990. I guess that doesn't really answer your question, but it gives ammo for eBay searching.

cheap as you can get them. I have bought 10yr old tanks for $50.00 ea these are 20yrs.
is value or cost the question? Full tanks @ 100 ft deep when the one on your back is empty..Priceless. When your moving to montana.....worthless.
All depends on how bad you want them or how much you need them.

Thanks guys......

I was just wondering most of all if I would have any problems getting them hydroed or filled.......they haven't been used since 2002......

How about I offer him $75 for both and than take my chances?

Would that be a good gamble?

they will probably take that and be glad to get it. The older tanks arent worth much $8.00 for scrap aluminum is all you get for a tank. Valves dont add alot either.

Was 1990 the last year that Luxfer used the 6351 that requires eddy testing?

No. From the Dive Gear Express FAQ:

"Different manufacturers ceased using the alloy for production of SCUBA cylinders at different times. Luxfer phased 6351-T6 out over two years and had completely ceased using it by mid-1988, Cliff Impact ceased using 6351-T6 by mid-1990, Walter-Kidde ceased SCUBA cylinder production using 6351-T6 in 1989, and Catalina never used 6351-T6."

But be aware that there are not only shops but hydro places like two up this way that put a 15 year life on al tanks. Not saying it is right but shops make the rules for their businesses.

You're going to have trouble filling them, as Jim said, it's not based on actual problems with the tanks, it's just the prevailing paranoia about older AL tanks.

If you know a place that will fill them indefinitely as long as they'll pass inspection, fine, they might be worth $40-50 each, but if not, they're worth almost nothing.

Thank you guys, I decided to pass on them and buy 2 of these instead:

Again, I do appreciate all your comments.......
