Hey Everyone,
I'm looking for a Hydro Optix Dive Mask.
I just learned about their existence and also that the company doesn't make or sell them anymore

Anyone have an idea where I could get my hands on one?

eBay search returns nothing .

Would be a life saver for me!

As the regular masks' magnifying effect makes me very nauseous, I always need medication for diving which them makes me very drowsy, leaving me with no energy for the rest of the day...

Any help is appreciated!

They were an oddball product that acted like a pair of eyeglass lenses for moderately nearsighted people underwater, but had no effect above water. If you had normal vision and wanted to use them, you had to get fitted for contact lenses to make yourself nearsighted. And since they only affected vision when underwater, they came with a monocle for countering the contacts when above water.

The internal volume was also huge and they were very prone to fogging. Plus they were expensive. So it's little wonder that the company failed. Production ended in 2011 or 2012 and they were kind of delicate so it's not surprising they are now hard to find.

I only know this because they started advertising them around when my wife started diving and it just happened that the correction they required matched her eyeglass prescription so she could use them without contacts. She loved hers and used them for years before the lens got a small crack in the corner where it is screwed to the frame. I counted myself lucky to get a replacement from a classified ad here a few years ago. I haven't seen one up for sale since.

Can confirm the general consensus on them: the hype is real, they do what they do, but the build quality sucks and they’re not really practical. EBay is the source for this sort of thing, set up an alert and one will come your way eventually.

Additionally, they came in two sizes: 4.5 and 3.8 depending on your Rx. They were doomed from the outset. I tried them and they were a joke. Fogging was awful; wearing corrective glasses on the boat even worse. For a brief few moments underwater, I was able to make them work and it was wonderful but my dive lasted 5 minutes.

They were actually sold by a few optometrists in my area.

I had a pair 15-20 years ago or so. They were given to me by the company once I took a course from them in how they worked and agreed to sell them if anybody wanted one. My eyesight was such that they corrected nicely for me u/w, and I just took them off and was normally near-sighted on the boat/shore.
I finally sold them to a guy for a ridiculously high sum. Extremely niche product.
