To get them tuned do I take them to my dive shop and let them tune my regs for me or can i do it my self?

Unless you have an IP guage and some experience doing it, I would suggest paying someone who does. It's not overly difficult, but to do it correctly takes a little training/experience. It wont (shouldn't) cost much nor should it take much time.

The HOGs have tempted me as well, especially since I could work on them myself (probably could with others as well). As for the number of regs to own, I prefer one for each day of the week plus a few for any of my friends who come to visit. That makes a total of... gulp... just seven (7)! Seriously, I have at least four sets (I think there's another in the dive locker). I use one (DIN Mk10/G250) on my primary tank, another (yoke Mk2+/G250) on my pony), and have two additional Mk10/G250s (one yoke, one DIN) for when the others are in for service.

At last count, we had 19 regulators for the two of us . . . and students, of course! Like Bob, we are in the process of switching our entire stable of regs to HOGs. So far, they have been flawless in performance, and they breathe very well. I will be taking the tech course later this year and begin servicing our own regs.

The last time I took my SPMk25/S600 doubles regs in for service, the bill was almost $200. At that price, we could almost buy HOG regs, use them for two years, and THROW THEM AWAY!

I not only use but sell them. I am also getting rid of my Oceanics, Sherwoods, and ScubaPro's. Once I have completed the annual services on them I will put them here or on ebay and replace em with HOG's or for stages Edge Epic's. Just as reliable and even less expensive. If you think the advertised prices are great PM me and see how much better of a deal you can get! I am an authorized dealer for the full line. And I cover shipping!

I have 1 reg set up so far, but i am interested in purchasing another one (MK25/S600). I am also looking at a HOG set up. I need so ammo just in case my wife looks at me crazy when i start having boxes come to the house.

Does anyone know anything about HOG regs. A while ago my instructor was using HOG D1 and HOG reg and I used it once and it was just effortless breathing. Since then i have become pretty curious and the price is amazing.

Just remind your wife that this is all "life support equipment".:D

Yea, but I bet they had to clean and repack those with $100 of lube; Hence, I'm a diaphragm guy

You can never have too many. I plan on getting all HOG's as well, cant beat the price for the performance you get and they are easy to work on.

I'll take your wife's side on this... you, per your bio here, have 0-24 dives. Spend your money on diving, not gear. Maybe some time from now you can really evaluate what you want/need....

Yes, HOG/EDGE are a good reg. So are many others...maybe the ones you own too? Get to know who/what YOU are...... DIVE, DIVE, DIVE.... When you hit the numbers of the guys posting to your thread, you can make educated decisions.....

Mk25's don't get the chamber packed with anything.

Lynne, did the $200 include parts or was it considered OOW service? Not debating the cost of service, just wondering what it included and how many stages were serviced?

Two firsts, two seconds, and yes, it was out of warranty. I don't remember what the parts cost, but it wasn't very much. The cost was labor.
