I have been doing exactly what Achim did in the ISE video: Prusik around both the gear and the boltsnap + overhand around one side + square knot around the other side + melt & mush the ends. Have not bothered with glue, and have had zero issues. Using #21 nylon cave line. The line is incredibly strong, I am unable to break it by hand no matter how hard I try. Testing cutting it also; cuts very easily above and below water with a DIR steak knife, EMT shears, trilobyte, or a BFK.
It has never occurred to me to use wet cave line to tie the knot. I can see the wisdom in that. Next time I'll give that a shot and see if the knot ends up any more stable vs dry line.
