I'm curious. How different is it to install a new valve on a tank needing to be filled with pure oxygen vs a tank that will be filled with no more than 40% Nitrox? Does the valve require a specific treatment or installation protocol?

Most just use the same oxygen clean(ed) valves that you use for partial pressure filling. There is an oxygen specific valve that DGX sells, it has a finer thread on the handle so it turns the seat slower, but it appears that a minority of cave divers use them.

While it's open, it's a good opportunity to have the inside and valve cleaned/inspected. No difference in installation. (Do not lube the o-ring in either case.) I prefer the O2-specific valve with finer knob threads but not enough to change out the one bottle I have with a normal valve.
