Technically, if you're OW cert through PADI then 60 ft is your "I'll die" limit...

Do other certs "allow" deeper for rec limits?

130 feet is the recreational diving limit. PADI lied to you.

TheRedHead:
Doubles plus 2 deco bottles and rescuing some huge man wearing the same. Hauling yourself up the ladder wearing 1-1/2 to 2 times your weight in gear takes strength.
Its no different than your Deco Procedures. Plus, you should be handing up your bottles and not carrying them.

limeyx:
but you *are* gonna take tech1 first, right?

I was under the impression- from posts elsewhere- that lamont was a tech diver of some sort. Must have been mistaken... what exactly ARE you lamont? You seem to know an awful lot of stuff... are you military? Me, I'm just a truck driver...

You can take Deco Procedures in a single tank with 1 bottle. I just finished Technical Diver and it was tough. Maybe I should go back to TDI. ;)

Yes, 130 feet for rec diving... but unless you are AOW, they say 60 ft is the max you are supposed to allow yourself...

They're wrong. 60 feet is the recommended depth for NEW divers. And AOW is not going to make you safe at depth.

I'm just telling you the PADI guideline for OW cert... I'm not saying AOW is going to make you safe at depth... and right or wrong, that's their guideline.

I was just joking around with a guy who made a funny post. I didn't intend to start an argument.

TheRedHead:
The recreational diving limit is set at 130 feet, but lots of people dive to 150 or deeper and don't talk about it. Normoxic Trimix class requires a lot of physical strength and I can assure you that a lot of women coudn't pass it. And it is not a matter of skill or knowledge. It's really a barrier to safer diving for those who don't have the muscle.

1) Normoxic Trimix class requires a lot of physical strength
Nope

2) I can assure you that a lot of women coudn't pass it.
Nope

3) And it is not a matter of skill or knowledge.
Nope

I know many smaller gals who just fine... All they need is the right gear and right instructor.

That alone is beyond the pale.

But...If if people can't walk up a ladder with double Al80's, then they shouldn't be tech diving. Double 130's and a couple of deco bottles and/or stages can be a bit much, but fpr a lot of people that would be overkill anyways.

Maybe I'm wrong, Jeff. Advanced Nitrox can be taken with a single tank and one stage. I did Deco Proc. in doubles plus 1 stage.
