Semi dry = um, wet? :)

MSP Diver:
I dove all last year in a 5mm, half were below 2nd and 3rd thermoclines. The lowest temp were around 35 degrees. As the general board consensus states, getting out is what gets you. I have since purchased a semi-dry.

42 F in my Bare 7mm arctic with 7mm hooded vest. Now that I've finally gotten a drysuit, if it's liquid, I'll dive in it!

Divin'Hoosier:
I bow before you Queen of the Cold Water!

Actually I'm quite the cold water coward:D . That's why I've gone dry. I haven't been in the water since New Years Day. Right now it's too cold for me to dive, dry or not. Hopefully we'll very soon get temps back in 50's & I can get wet again.:14:

I dove wet for many years before getting a dry suit. Including quite a number of late December and New Years Day dives.

That experience taught me that the key was not about planing the dive itself.

* Plan how you were gonna stay warm while getting suited and geared up.

* Plan how you were gonna keep from freezing into popsicle after you came out of the water.

The absolute biggest issue is getting out of the wind.
Those portable shelters, with some form of heat, plus some hot drink or soup are the best solution next to an actual heated building. Ber does her classes a Huge Service by providing this solution.
