I think I will use two extra belt buckles slipped over the webbing to keep the weight pockets in place. Anyway, thanks a lot for your suggestions.

Are you sure you have the right weight pockets? The trans-weight pocket

has two vertical straps to hook to your waist strap and a horizontal above where the shoulder strap goes through to hold. Look at these DR weight systems and determine which one you're looking at, then we can come up with a solution on how to attach to your rig. ;)

I have the TransWeight 32 System, the one from you picture above. There are only two straps, both are parallel to each other, there is no third strap that could go through the shoulder strap. I attached to pictures, one of the backside of the weight pocket, and another one of my harness.

Geez, how sad to see its been improved upon. The old style pocket was pretty slick.

Is there any way to slip one side on the waist strap and the other on the shoulder strap? In my mind it would work out but depends on how the dump functions in relation to those hooks, bear in mind the advantages of easily ditchable weight. Don't want them upside down should the time comes you need the ditch to function.

Update: I just spoke to DiveRite, and they told me the the TransWeight pockets are for the TransPlate backplate only. I thought I had a TransPlate backplate, but I really just have a regular backplate. So to make a long story short, these weight pockets are not intended for regular backplates with continuous webbing. Instead, a regular weight belt should be used.

Anyway, thanks again to all who offered their advice.

I don't think this would work, this would twist and pull the straps on the weight pocket a lot.

Anyway, see my other post, the answer is that these weight pockets are not intended for my regular backplate, but only for the TransPlate.

I don't know, I have a pair of these pockets in the basement somewhere and now I'm scheming up ways they could be useful on my "regular" backplate...they are big though. Probably best not to futz with it.

Wow, these people change by the day, I got my 32# Trans Weight system about 10 months ago and I got them installed in my OMS BP without any problems.

I'm out of town until friday (tomorrow) when I get back home, I'll check mine and try to take some pics so you know what I mean.

Maybe you can modify yours by sewing some aditional straps to them and make then BP ready.

Mine work great and I don't have any complaints about them.

Maybe I'll be able to post the pics on saturday so have patience and we'll resolve the problem.

Here is a pic of the old style 32# Trans Weight System, this model was bought about 6 yrs ago and you can notice the upper strap is part of one of the lower strap, it's sewen at an angle to facilitate the threading through the shoulder strap of the harness

Here is a pic of the "New" style 32# Trans Weight System, this model was bought about 10 months ago and you can notice the upper strap is sewn perpendicular to the lower straps, the threading through the shoulder strap of the harness is very easy and the pocket stays upright.

I think that you got the newer model that's advertised as a tilt foward easier to load and unload model.

Maybe you can stick with your plan of using the retainers or modify as one of the above, it's your choice.

I'm very happy with the way mine perform and wouldn't change the system for nothing right now.

Sincerelly hope that you find a way of attaching yours to your harness system.

Please let us know how it comes out and how they perform if you go the retainer route.
