I am looking for a hotel near Curacao Airport. Yes, I have searched and found the recommendations for "Airport Hotel" which seems is also called "Hotel Holland & Casino" but I can't find any info directly. The couple of links I found appear to be dead. Is this still around? One link I found had an email address of inof@hojo-curacao.com. Is hojo Howard Johnson? I found a Howard Johnson, but it isn't at the airport.

Absent this place, is there anywhere that is easy access (and reasonable priced) to spend a night before an early (7:10AM departure so have to be at the airport around 5:00AM)? I considered renting a car, but I can't find any agencies that are open before 6:00AM to return the car. I understand that it is upwards of $40 each way to take a taxi from the airport to motels in town. That additional $80 isn't in the budget. That's why I was looking at renting a car for the day...at about $40.

What do those of you that take American Airlines from Curacao do? I'll be coming from Bonaire the day before.

The Airport Hotel is, as far as I know, the closest hotel to the airport; it is almost next to the airport. It is still operational. The email address that you mention (with info instead of inof) is indeed mentioned at the website of the Curacao Tourist organisation. It could be right because there is a family relationship between the owner of the Airport Hotel and the Howard Johnson hotel (father and son). But you can always give them a call (+(5999)/868-8044). The phone number is at the same website as where you found the email address.

We stayed at the Renisance downtown when we passed through. The taxi was $25 each way. You don't need to be at the airport quite that early. 1 hr - 1hr 15 is probably good, We connected on Divi Divi air they wouldn't even check us in until like 45 min before. But the plane only holds 7 people.

The airport hotel was there in 2009. It;s adjacent to the airport prior to Hato Caves. It cost about $75 a night. Not a great place, but ok.

I'm guessing that if the $40 difference is an issue for the OP then staying at the Renaissance for $200/nt. might be also. :idk:

A couple of inexpensive - around $80 - options in town would be the Academy Hotel or the Pelikaan Hotel. Links to both and others: Small Hotels / Where to Stay / Home - Curacao

This have any impact on your flight plans?

Thanks all. I found a place referred to me by people on BonaireTalks. They will pick me up and return me to the airport for $20, the studio room costs $65.

@ 1_T_Submariner, it sounds like you are speaking of a Curacao to Bonaire connections. I suspect that might not require as early a check-in. I will be taking the American flight out of Curacao to Miami, and American states a minimum of 2 hours check-in before all International Flights. I understand Curacao can take a long time (only one X-Ray machine). The time is not a problem for me, since I have now procured transportation, since I would be required to be at the Bonaire airport much earlier for the Continental flight.

@ diversteve, you are correct. I would have a hard time spending $200 for one enroute night, when I'm spending slightly more than 1/3 of that for lodging on Bonaire. Call me cheap. But it's the only way I can afford to do ~100 dives a year.
