From Wednesday's dive in Cenote Chan Hol.

I know I discussed my concern about cameras as a distraction. I decided that the best way to handle at the moment is to only capture video on the penetration, and avoid doing videos on the exit, and camera down during navigation. That slows the penetration too. The only video I attempted to do on the exit through the last 20 feet of low viz muck, which didn't work out as one of my video lights decided to die.

It's happening. You're about 1 month of stage diving away from refusing to dive without one unless it just REALLY doesn't make sense with the plan. They add a ton of value when used properly. Even if it's just the ability to break a gas share.

Did another stage dive, Regina, another deep system for Mexico. Went down to the deep section, there is no way we would've reached where we did without a stage. Even though we had to push the stage in in front of us to get through the entrance restriction (went in the backdoor).

this year Regina has had a resurgence in popularity because there’s tons of people posting videos of themselves pushing through the restriction. It’s like one video spawned the next and then spawned more people to dive it. Not saying that about you, just making a general observation.

Roger suggested it after I suggested Shoam, I guess he felt that the topside of backdoor would be better for me.

But I can definitely see how it is a cave that shouldn't be well traveled. Not only is the entrance a restriction, but the cave is pretty tight until at least the jump that we took to skip another restriction.

I didn't even think to get a video of me pushing through the restriction. I was thinking "this is the boring part."

There's been alot of people, esp rebreather divers that are setting up cameras on the cave side of the restriction so they can video themselves going through it. I know one guy that literally went through the restriction in a bm rebreather, set up the camera, then exited the restriction, grabbed a stage, then went back through the restriction so he could get video of himself supermanning the stage coming through the restriction. For some reason there's been quite a few of those on the internet in the past 18 months, and so a ton of people are going there to go through the restriction.

As someone that cave dives to see cool stuff, I just don't understand that. But I guess I don't want to be the subject of my videos, I want the cave to be.

JFC.

I remember when Double Lines in ginnie were pristine. Then everyone wanted to see it. Now it's a dump and I feel like this guy every time I go through there.

Took 24 hours to process and upload, but I finally got the video online.

I got to say that I loved the dive. I would be hesitant to take someone there even though the topside is really easy for me. I would need to know that they are going to try their best to avoid impacting the entrance.

Thanks for sharing this inspiring journey! I've thoroughly enjoyed reading it and I look forward to future updates!

In some of the posts you mention your lower than average gas consumption. I've noticed in the videos, that during your breathing cycle you often (not always) have two "spurts" of exhalation for every full inhalation. Is this a conscious technique you use or just your natural breathing pattern? Just wondering if this technique, intentional or not, might help lower gas consumption.?

Thanks again for all the work you have put into this thread! Certainly a breath of fresh air!
