hood for florida diving

Can anyone offer any suggestions
for a hood for a year round Florida diver.
I dive with a 3mm one piece jumpsuit
right now. thanks.

I dive in Fl with just my beanie. A good all purpose hood would be a 3mm.

I like, no LOVE my Henderson TriLam hood.
It is very soft and comfortable and keeps a lot of the gunk out of my hair.

When I am not diving in PNW waters, I am typically diving in Florida/Bahamian waters. I have diving experience in almost every month and have always done well with my beanie. I picked up the idea way back after observing the habits of a good friend of mine who runs a dive op in Bimini. She wears her beanie year-round.

I'm headed back to Florida next month so I just picked up a new one!

I don't need no stinking hood!


Actually I don't use one, I don't like things against my neck, makes me feel ike I'm choking. I tried a bennie and it drove me nuts.

For me who dives regularly in a 5 mil hood with a flange, I found a beanie to be very free feeling. But given the choice to not wear one at all...well who can argue.

It was touching my neck and I don't like that. Also it was hard to get my mask on over the beenie cuz the beenie would move around, and I didn't like it withthe mask strap under the beenie either.

Make sure if you get one to punch a couple of small holes in the top of it so the air can vent, otherwise you will look like a cone head with a big bubble under your hood/beenie.

If you wanna try mine you can borrow it for a while since i don't use it. I will be in Gainesville this weekend so just let me know.
