Does anyone know the height of clip part of the Highland Tank Bands with SS Cam Buckles? I want to know if I can thread them through my Halcyon STA which has a slot only *just* bigger than 2 inches.

Thanks!

I don't have the answer but...
You should email XS Scuba's customer service. I emailed them last week about these bands, asking if they came with tank-protecting pads. They emailed me back within 48 hours, and apparently they now come with a PVC pad to protect the tank from the metal buckle.

However, I ordered them from Leisure Pro and they did not come with the pads. I would measure them for you but I'm about 7,000 miles away from them at the moment.

EDIT: I'll try and get a picture of it disassembled later today.

I expect they will be 2" - but why don't you want to use Halcyon ones?

Do the Halcyon bands also have a quick release feature? I suspect most people choose these for the quick release feature to make changing a tank easier.

The end of the nylon strap on the Highland can be completely removed from the cam buckle just like all the other cam straps… unless I misunderstood your question. They really do make changing bottles easier, especially on a pitching small boat. It is nice to have the option to place your wing/plate on deck, lay the cylinder on top of it, and snap the cam buckles together compared to sliding the pack and two straps over the top of a vertical tank.

I have use Scuba Pro cinch straps on the lower of the two straps on all of my Back Plates (and a Zeagle BC before that) for years. Makes it a lot easier to change out between dives - especially on cramped boats.

But I like that these are more traditional cam bands that are easier to adjust between tank sizes. The SP type straps a bit more difficult as you have to change the size before you strap the tank on.

You're probably right, other than the fact that changing tanks isn't hard in the first place

I hope these pics help...

Usually no, but sometimes I solo dive for my photography and putting the pony bands between bands to the bp/w takes a long time!

Haha, yes these pics help, I was thinking of threading the clip side through, never thought about removing the buckle and going the other way
:p

The Highland SS Cam Bands are now shipping with PVC pads to protect the tank from being scratched by the buckle however, there are still plenty out there without the pads.
XS Scuba is sending me the PVC pads for free and picking up the shipping costs.
If you purchase these and the pads are not included, contact XS's customer service.
...Their excellent customer service.
