Just go with the 21 or 18 and be done with it forever.

Done with it forever? That is wishful thinking. Just wait until they come out with the adjustable wattage, focusable, adjustable light spectrum, adjustable lumen, and it runs off of water light! Then we may be getting closer to 'forever'.:D

I"m going to be selling 21w HID lights that I've made in about a month or two. I have one built now, but will be buying enough parts to make 5 for the first batch. I'm going to sell them for $700. Focusable 21w brightstar hid with 5 hr burn time.

If your looking for something in the 10w range, LEDS are brighter. I've had trouble getting them to focus well. Hollis has an LED out for $850 that seems to have a pretty good beam. 350xfire sells LED can lights for cheap. Save up now and just buy the 21w. Ive been running a 700 Lumen LED for the lat several months that I spent almost $300 to build. I hate it now so I'm building 21w HIDs.

adjustable power, spectrum, and water powered are all great :D but focusable is really not necessary.

I actually use the focus on my light when shooting video (crappy video, but video non the less) in caves. So my super duper adjustable wattage/spectrum/lumen/lux/ water powered/ high speed low drag ranger light MUST have a focusable beam

For NE coastal/wreck diving you're going to want at least a 21w HID. The viz here can just swallow an LED light, and a 10w HID doesn't get swallowed, but still not powerful enough often to signal others.

The Light Monkey Havoc is a great product, backed up by customer service that is apparently second to none. You can read my mini-review of my 21w Havoc HID here:

Their battery sealing/connection set-up is a specifically nice feature:

I have ordered one, can not wait to get it! And dive with it. Have you had yours long? any issues with it, that you know of:idk:

You'll love it...until you dive with someone who owns a 35w version!

:D

Have had mine for going on two years; about 200 or so dives. Wouldn't change a thing about it.

When you step up and try to take non-crappy video, feel free to post pics of the actual video reflectors you used to light it :eyebrow:

LED IMO if I had a choice but already invested in a delicate HID which costs close to 200.00 CDN to replace the bulb, 10 watt works fine for me, I have dove in the cenotes and many wrecks up here in the St Lawrence river, and Lake Ontario, Canada.
