Hi all!

I'm relatively new "average diver" from Montreal who recently returned from the Caymans where I dove five times (first time since about three years). Previously I'd only dove in the Azores in Portugal where I worked for a few years. It felt wonderful to be back in the water again.

I have most of my own equipment with the notable exception of a BC, which I would like to buy now. I see myself mostly diving in salt, warm Carribbean waters; although I would like to maintain an open option to one day dive in fresh, cold Canadian water. I'd like to get some opinions (pros/cons) of the following BCs:

[1] Any of the various Halcyon configurations,
[2] Sequest Balance or Black Diamond; and;
[3] Apeks WTX series configurations.

The reason I'm listing these is because I'm currently working in Alaska, which has NO STATE SALES TAX, so I figure I can save at least the bloody ~15.5% Canadian sales tax and the local dive shops stock these models.

Greatful in advance for all the advice you diving gurus can offer a relative newbie - Thanks!

AM,

My recommendation would be for a Back Plate and wing. Modular, adaptable, etc. If doubles are in your future the BP&W is the clear choice.
