Well sounds like its been a while since you'v been here if you remember Orchard Lake that way.. I live a street over and it is now a 4 lane road.. lots of ppl lost alot of footage in their front properties when the city decided to expand.. and of cource now orchard goes all the way to Pontiac... expansion, expansion, expansion.

Are you familuer with Sea the World Scuba center? That is my home base shop.. great crew from there.

Hope to see ya round Gilboa or Portage. Happy Diving :snorkel:

:thumb: Welcome to the board, AP, and to the underwater world. Swing by the Great Lakes Wrecking Crew section of this board to meet a bunch of divers from your area. I used to live not far from you - although it's been long enough ago that I still remember when Orchard Lake Rd was only 2 lanes and where it meets with Northwest Highway was a lonely country intersection.

You'll love Bonaire. It's the perfect place for new divers, with warm, clear water, nominal currents, friendly locals and a tourist infrastructure devoted to diving. Here's a link to a report I wrote after one of my trips there a few years ago - not much has changed. There's a lot of information about Bonaire available on the web but if you have any specific questions, PM me and I'll make up an answer for you.

Yep. Unfortunately, you're a little too late to buy one of our new teeshirts or hats.
Be sure to write up a trip report on your trip to Bonaire, you lucky dog!

Hi Alison.

Welcome to SCUBABoard and the world of diving. Sea The World is my main dive shop. No other shop in the area comes close in my book. If Reefraff hasn't been in the area in some time he may remember it by another name. Before the current owners bought it the store name was Don's Dive Shop.

My local club has a dive planned for Orchard Lake later this month. Definitely a lake you want to dive before Memorial Day and/or after Labor Day. Other than that the boat traffic is quite heavy.

I'm sure I'll see you around given we live so close to one another.

Paula

Paula.. :yourkiddi your kidding me! Sea the World is my home base as well.
Craig, James and the rest of the crew rock it out over there. Did you go to the Toby trip in October.. In the summer I also hang with Charlie and the crew for our wednsday night spring Mill pond dive(s).... its a blast.

Well hey maybe I'll see you up at the shop I live just a few blocks away.

Happy diving!

You'll find a lot of nice folks at the GLWC board and a number of events will probably take place during the year. I expect to see some 'charters' and such as the summer begins to arrive here in Michigan.
