Can't help with Playa del Carmen but hello anyway
Welcome Welcome - we might just get as many KS/MO divers as there are TX divers??? 
Wish I had some info on Playa del Carmen - my only Mexico diving has been in Cozumel. Have a great trip and let us know how you liked Playa del Carmen.

You will enjoy Playa del Carmen. I have been there about 10-12 years ago. Probably has changed a lot. At that time I was only snorkeling so I do not know where to dive.
