Hey Soggy,

I was out this Sunday and water temp was around 44 degrees.

Jenny.

Yup, the water is still in the mid40s (give or take depending on which way the wind is blowing). It'll be a while before it bottoms out.

Soggy, I've been toasty in my weezle extremes with just shorts on underneath. My buddy just ordered a pair of the DUI 400s - I'll be interested to see how they stack.

Man, do I love winter diving.

I was shivering after an hour in 52 degree water in the Weezle Extreme. I'm looking at a Viking B400 undergarment. Everyone tells me I'll be way too hot in it, so I'm thinking it will be just right.

You and Ber should be dive buddys

extreme PLUS all the way - supposed to be much warmer than just than extreme. What kills me, to be honest, is my feet, even walking around on the deck in my rock boots after a dive is torture - I order some boots from weezle - but they haven't come yet.

That said, I'm sure that Viking stuff is great, although I'll bet it's big bucks.

I'm tall and skinny, so I certainly know what it's like to be cold - it's no fun.

Also, Soggy,

Have you thought about argon at all? I just got my first fill the other day so I can't really judge it yet. From what I hear, negative stuff about argon is from people not pre-flushing their suits in advance. Here in NE we need any edge we can get.

I found the manufacturer and am looking at getting a custom fit B400 for about the same cost as the Weezle Extreme+.

Ditto!

I've heard mixed things about Argon when diving air. The navy did some study and found the difference was negligable. Also, doesn't preflushing the suit a few times require bringing along a separate, larger tank of Argon? I may borrow a setup from someone and try it out.

If I do Tech 1 in 2004, I'll need it anyhow, I s'pose. Gotta take DIR-F first, though.

Ya, there's a bunch of stuff about argon not being effective, but, I think you'll find most of the research is flawed in some way or another. Chris, the owner of Abyss Diving, posted an article somewhere else that seems to be the definitive work on argon - showing at least 10% increase if (and onlu if) you pre-flush.

And yup - you need another tank. I'm using an al80 right now (it cost me $45 to fill it). I'm sure in a month or 2 I'll have a better feel as to how good this stuff. And or course, it's a must with mix. I paid $200 for a tran-tank fillable 6cu unit w/ reg ready to go so I figured it would be worth a shot.

Sounds like a good deal on the 400 undies.

The argon system is unfortunately going to have to be put down further on the list of purchases for a while. When I do a mix class, I may start with diving air in the argon system until I can afford another al80 and a trans fill whip. Plus, there is the whole PIA factor of schlepping another tank onto the boat. I do have a regulator set aside for the system already, though.

When are we going to Poling it up? I know Spectre, ericfine and I want to put something together before CAD takes their boat out for Jan.
