October 3rd -8th my aunt will be on a cruse out of Miami. She got a hotel and rental car out of Ft Lauderdale for the week. She got it for a week because it was cheaper to do that then to have a room the day before she leaves and the day she gets back/ and car for the same days. Cheaper by $100

So me and my girl are gonna come and stay in the room for the week while she is cursing. I am new to diving ( 8 dives so far) and my GF is learning now. We will have more by October and hope to make a good trip and dive as much as we can/ can afford while there. I have typically dove walk in shore dives but doesn't appear that's a common or productive way to do so down there. Looking for tips, and what to expect.

Anyone with info, do's and dont's, do not miss places. Good shop(s) to use, what to expect cost wise... Any help is greatly appreciated!!

KCCO!!

Hopefully your aunt is not cursing too much as she is cruising....

There is some good shore diving in nearby Lauderdale by the Sea and Dania Beach. The only issue is that the marine conditions can be 'iffy' in October. Another SB member put together some useful guides....

And here's a thread on Lauderdale by the Sea.

If you drive up to West Palm Beach, you can dive Blue Heron Bridge at slack tide. See the thread on ScubaBoard for more details. This site is walk-in no matter what the ocean marine conditions are like since it is in a protected area. Here's some additional general info.

Blue Heron Bridge

If you want to dive off a boat, consider South Florida Dive Headquarters in nearby Pompano, they do a lot of shallow reef dives and have easy boats to get on and off of. If your GF wants to snorkel, she can do that while you dive. You can also call Gold Coast Scuba or Force-E Scuba. Neither shop operates boats, but can get you on an appropriate boat if you describe what you're looking for. You can also make a day trip down to Key Largo too: lots and lots of dive boats there.

Awesome! Thanks for the info.

And she should be SCUBA certified by October and able to do most anything recreational.

My first time seeing this site, nice work. "we live where you vacation" I like it!

Thank you. Glad you like it! We hope to add up to 8 more dive sites in the Broward Palm Beach Counties this summer.
