My flight in is on the 22nd and out on the 25th from SFO.
I have to be in Palo Alto Friday July 23rd from 7p-10p.
If possible I would really love to be having a birthday dinner with my wife Sat night having been diving with sea lions earlier in the day.

My wife would prefer to dive dry as lots of rubber make her uncomfortable.

we are not dry suit certified but could do it before the trip if required.
does anyone rent dry suits in the monterey area?
would anyone be willing to train us to use the suits and then come with us diving? (with or without the cert.)

are there any options I have not considered?

Thanks in advance
Marc.

You won't be able to rent a drysuit without a certification.

They aren't really a dive it once and you know all there is to know kind of thing. You'll likely need at least 10 dives in one before you start to feel comfortable again.

They are warm, and the every weekend crown here uses them almost exclusively.

Call around. Monterey Bay Dive Center used to rent them, but they are now defunct. Don't know if any of the other local shops will rent them.

Sport Chalet will rent them, assuming you have a C-card. But I don't know if you have to reserve one. Call and find out.

It might be easier to just rent 7mm wetsuits and go diving. Cold be damned.

I have this all worked out except what boat to take and what resturant to celebrate my wifes birthday. My shop owner is going to certify us, we found a place to rent a suit.

I second Charthouse in Monterey, it's close by too. Another option is Patisserie Boissiere in Carmel. I'm sure there's also a bunch of others to be found on Yelp as well.

The Charthouse in Monterey is nice for your wife's birthday.

Charthouse would be my first choice. Monterey's Fish House is good food,
but not as romantic and no view, and sometimes kinda noisy. The
Charthouse does take reservations, tell them it's your wife's birthday and
ask for a window table. They open at 4 or 4:30. The Charthouse has what's
reputedly the biggest salad bar in California.
