Okay guys,

Please help me out on this. Me and some friends are headed for a Blackbeard's trip the second week of May.

Due to getting out of school our timing is gonna be tight on making it to the docks in Miami for our trip.

So I was wondering if someone wouldn't mind helping me out with some directions to make it the shortest drive to traverse the state.

We'll be coming in I-10 (from Texas). The best route seems to be heading south on 75 and then going on the road that cuts diagonally across the state southeasterly, but on the map I have it doesn't have a name designated for the road (is this State highway 91, or am I reading the map wrong????!?!?!!?).

It appears that road is the shortest way to do the traversal of the state but it concerns me it doesn't have a name - is it not open.

If not that, then should we just head all the way to the coast via 10 and take 95 south?

BTW we have to end up on Watson Island (that's where the boats are docked).

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm trying to get 15 people there from Houston Texas and it's a lot to tackle.

Thanks in advance,

Aggie Diver

well.. when in doubt..

.. use mapquest :-)
(or similar site):

directions

i am not sure what road you are talking about
but I-75 becomes florida turnpike (toll road) somewhere past ocala... (if i remember it correctly) and goes all the way to orlando...

anyway... check the directions online :-)

Thanks!

So what are we looking at cost-wise for the turnpike?

Mapquest takes you over to 95 and a drive south along the eastern shoreline.

Which one is shorter?

Also anyone know the cost to do the turnpike?

Thanks Again,

$12.25 from Orlando to SR 826 anyway.

from i-75 to orlando is .. i think.. jus tone toll plaza and something like $2.50 for a car.

I go to springs up north quite often but florida being so flat it is pretty boring and my brain switches to autopilot so i don' tremember where do i pay the tolls and how much...

anyway, good luck with the trip :-)

I-75 south all the way down. (For Gods sake stay away from I-95)It turns east once you reach Ft. Myres or so and it's called "Alligator Alley". It is a toll road but it's not to expensive, couple of bucks to cross the entire state comparied to $20 or more for the Turnpike from Orlando. I've never taken the Turnpike all the way to Orlando but I have taken it as far north as Jupiter and if I remember right it was like $6 to $8 just to get there and Orlando is a lot further north then Jupiter. Not to mention you miss most of the traffic from the west coast of Florida using the Turnpike themselves trying to avoid I-95. I-75 comes right into Broward county near the Miami Dade/ Broward line on I-595. You can either follow it all the way to I-95 which will take you down to Miami or follow the signs and take I-75 and it will continue to take you further south into Miami itself. All depends on where in Miami you want to go.

If you need more help PM me and I'll look at my local maps and give you some better info.
