Chaz, I don't think you can even compare handing out condoms to handing out needles. It's two completely different levels.
I'm not ganging up on you here, but I'm not sure that you did the right thing. Firstly, (I know you hate hearing this -- I did too -- but it's still true) I think you're too young to understand the different views people have on teenage sex. There is the churches's opinion, parental opinions, teenage opinions, liberal vs. conservative opinions. I think -- without meaning to, or even realizing you werre doing it -- you offended a lot of people for different reasons by passing out condoms. Anyway, I don't believe it's our place to do that. If you're sexually active and you need condoms then buy them. Jesus, they're $8.00 for 24.. anyone can get them! Also a lot of health clinics will pass them out for free if you go in and ask for one.
My brother is in 8th grade and I can assure you no one in his class is anywhere NEAR being mature enough to be having sex. I think Lindsay and Kayla areght -- by passing out condoms to such young people you promote something that wasn't even considered before. It's good that you stood up for something you believe in but there is still a time and a place for everything, unfortunately school isn't the place to be handing out condoms. Especially without the knowlege and consent of a teacher.
Just my $0.02. Maybe I'm old-fashioned too. Oh, and if you're going to start talking about sex and politics you can't play the age card. You're either ready to talk about them or your not. Don't mention it if you don't want people to disagree with you.
