I just wanted to introduce myself. I live in St. Petersburg. I've been certified for almost 9 years, but I haven't really done much diving. A friend of mine is getting certified so I decided to start diving again. I think I'm going to sign up for a refresher course.

Any recommendations for good beginner/shallow dives off the coast of Pinellas?

Thanks,
Peter

Welcome to the board. The only local shallow dives by land are down in Bradenton. The Spanish Rocks and the Sugar Barge. They are pretty good beginner dives. I would definately do the refresher though. Don't take any chances. Better safe than dead.

I would definitely take some kind of refresher course. I am down here in Sarasota, so I don't know any good shops up your way. I'm not sure about any shore dives in the St. Pete area but there are a couple of good ones on Anna Maria Island. There is the sugar barge and spanish rocks. You should PM Capt. Ty here on the board - he runs a great boat out of St. Pete's and I'm sure he can do a refresher for you.

Cheers.
