My wife Jenn and I just finished our open water class and pool work last week. We will be doing our checkout dives in a few weeks probably. We are going on a trip to Belize in November and plan on diving 3 or 4 days while we are there. We went there on our honeymoon in April and really like the Ambergris Caye area.

Check our New Divers forum. If I did pool work last week, I'd want to do certifying next week, then practice dives before traveling.

And don't be shy about posting. Click Forums above, tour the long list of choices, and jump in anywhere you're qualified. PM me with any questions, and I'll try to find a pretty good answer.

I second Don's motion.....you want to get a little more comfortable with the gear and stuff before venturing out into the ocean. Find a quarry, do drills, practice skills...............I digress, Welcom to the boards.

Congratulations to you and Jenn, Jeff. A couple that dives together, stays together (at least I'd like to believe that). Welcome to ScubaBoard. Hope you will find a lot of useful information and comraderie here.

Thanks all. Looks like we will be doing our checkout dives in a few weeks (9/24-25) at Blue Springs quarry in IN. We have already been back in the pool once to get more practice in doing our skills. We both feel pretty comfortable so far...but I know that can change in open water. We are starting to look at getting our own equipment....way to many choices.
