(For those far and wide, Idaho is a state in the USA that sits between Utah and Canada.) Recently, my wife Connie, commented that we never do anything together, or that we never anything other than things that I like. So... being a good husband... I gave up hunting elk with a Bow and Arrow and took up SCUBA. Elk hunting makes more sense in this part of the world, but so far I haven't regreted the decision. I have been reading your posts for sometime and decided it was time to quit lurking in the background. You seem to try to be nice to each other. Other groups that I have been associated with in the past were not. That seems to speak well of divers in general. Anyway, Hi. I will be reading your posts and learning more about this facinating pastime.

Well, as far as being nice to each other, you are lucky you found this board first. Some of the other boards people can get quite rude. However, in person, most divers you will meet are pretty cool. With the exception of the occasional no it all holier than you wish you could be me divers. LOL.

Anyway, welcome to the board. Glad to have ya!

Welcome from Texas! I have a good friend who lives in Cour D'Lane (?) Idaho. My husband and I decided to get certified for the same reason, we needed a common hobby. It was the best thing we've ever done! I hope you and your wife enjoy it as much as we do. :thumb:

There are some sites that I am looking forward to trying out. All lakes, all at altitude (5000 to 6000) and all cold I'm afraid. A couple on my list are Bear Lake and Flaming Gorge. I understand that Yellowstone Lake is dry suit temperature but very interesting as lakes go. Anyway, I suppose that I will be able to get wet. I suspect that we will eventually work our way out your direction for a dip in the big pond. Thanks for the welcome.

One of my buddies moved to Tensed, ID three years ago and hasn't been diving since....

Don't let that happen to you!!!

Hope you can make it over here to get in some saltwater diving too. :)

Hi landlocked,
Cold water is diving great fun. The sea doesn't get much colder round here than 4 or 5 C . Dress properly, good dry suit, thermals and thinsulate, gloves and hood; its warm enough. Went out diving last weekend in the snow, what suprised me most was, I couldn't get parking at conger alley, to many divers.:D

Welcome to the board. And the folks are right, this board is a great board for knowledge, questions and all around fun and adventure.

We are just like you in that we decided to take up something we could enjoy together (i didnt want her to take up golf, i had to have something).

At first she was hesitant, now as we are going through our classes she has been as excited and better at skills than myself.

Enjoy and welcome to the board.
